May of 2010 brought retirement for me. I spent 33 years in the world of public education. My first 19 years were all spent at Pleasant Grove Junior High School in the Alpine School District. I began my career teaching physical education and health education. After 9 years, I spent 3 years working on a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science. I also changed positions at P.G. Junior and became the Library-Media Teacher, a position I held for 9 years. My last year was spent as a Teacher On Special Assignment in the position of assistant principal.
At the conclusion of my 19th year, I applied for and was hired as a UniServ Director for Eastern Utah UniServ in the Utah Education Association. Fourteen years later, I finally decided it was time to retire.
It's still difficult to believe that I have finished my career in education. Seems like only yesterday....
